iGoogle having its domain?

We normally go to iGoogle (or Google Personalized Homepage) by click on iGoogle link on top-right conner of your Google search page. Otherwise, you have to type google.com/ig to you browser to get there.

Now when you type iGoogle.com to your web browser address bar, it will redirect you to iGoogle page. The thing different is your setting will not be forced to make iGoogle becomes your google homepage if it not, while click on iGoogle link on top-right conner will make iGoogle become your google homepage when you come to Google.com until you click Classic Homepage again.

According to Philipp Lenssen:
The iGoogle.com domain is older. But before and around when iGoogle was launched (and possibly some time thereafter – I’m not sure when this new behavior was rolled out), entering “iGoogle.com” would actually take you to your default page, e.g. classic Google.com (or iGoogle). The newer redirect makes sense from a usability point of view... you may want to go to iGoogle every once in a while without making it your default Google homepage, and now you easily can.
